Moose Snowmobile Trail Reports for Thursday, January 9, 2025

Published on January 09, 2025

Ohio Ridge Riders January 2025

Snowmobiling 2025 is underway across upstate New York and the North Country.

Looking at the future temperature outlooks towards the later part of the month, trends are expected to remain seasonal and even slightly colder than usual, and officials say that comes as a blessing to the snowmobiling industry amidst a pattern of such uncertainly and inconsistent weather patterns over the last several riding seasons.

As of this publication, the bulk of the heaviest snow coverage remains west and south of Boonville, NY.

The further north you go from Northern Oneida County, it seems like the overall snow coverage is generally less, at-least for the time being.

With that said, there are several excellent reports from out on the trails, with some even going as far as saying “mint” condition.

Sled traffic has certainly increased since last weekend’s lake effect snow blitz and grooming fleets are preparing for another very busy weekend coming up.

Here are some of the latest reports we’ve gathered from around the North Country:

NOTE: Conditions are likely and do tend to change on a moment’s notice. Be sure to keep checking our website for any updates (you can also check in with your favorite snowmobile clubs for more in-depth details).

Brantingham Snowmobile Club: Some of the trail system has finally opened. Conditions vary.

Long Pond Sno Sled Club: Most trails have reopened, but conditions vary greatly.

Missing Link Snowmobile Club: Trails remain CLOSED (no updates since January 5).

Ohio Ridge Riders: Grooming fleets continue to be active and trails remain in great shape.

Old Forge/Town of Webb: Good conditions remain overall.

Penn Mountain Snow Riders: Despite a few remaining waterholes, grooming fleets have remain active out and the trails are open.

Southern Tug Hill Sno-Riders: Trails are open and conditions remain excellent.

Trackside Blazers: Trails are holding up and remain in good to excellent shape.

Turin Ridge Riders: Good conditions reported; lower trails have thinner coverage. (NO CONNECTION TO TRAILS EAST TOWARDS BRANTINGHAM/OLD FORGE).

Valley Snow Travelers: Grooming fleets have been out on the upper trails; Lowville trails remain thin and will be evaluated.

NOTICE: Local law enforcement and snowmobile club officials are warning all riders to obey any and all rules and regulations. This includes, but is not limited to: respecting closed trails and staying off from private property. Police warn to never snowmobile while intoxicated or under the influence of any substance. Watch your speeds and remember to look out for and give right-of-way to groomers on the trails.
