Here we are - our first snowmobile trail reports of the season!

Unlike last season, this one has started off with no shortage of snowfall. However, the forecast is unfortunately calling for a warm spell as we approach the new-year, with potential rain and temperatures likely reaching into the upper 40’s and 50’s.

With the generous amounts of snow from Mother Nature, riders have wasted no time to get some miles on. In fact, some trail systems have been open since before Christmas.

It seems as if the usual early season hazards are making their presence known (downed trees/limbs, open water holes and etc.) and our local clubs are urging riders to use caution at all times.

Here are the latest updates we have gathered:

-Barnes Corners Sno-Pals: Main trails in Montague and Worth are groomed. Watch for tree limbs and waterholes.

-Brantingham Snowmobile Club: Trails are open. 10-mile to Stillwater, Mountain Tom, Kovach and Confusion Flats are all groomed.

-Long Pond Sno Sled Club: Trails are open. Stay tuned for more updates.

-Lost Trail Snowmobile Club: Trails are open and rideable. Watch for waterholes and other hazards.

-Missing Link Snowmobile Club: Groomers have been out towards Copenhagen and Maples.

-Osceola Snowmobile Association: Groomers are rolling and trails are in great condition.

-Ohio Ridge Riders: Trails C4B, C4H, S46A and C4 were all opened last-week. Watch for fallen trees.

-Old Forge/Town of Webb: Trail conditions are good; six-inches of base.

-Penn Mountain Snow Riders: Trails closed until Southern Tier Holiday Hunt ends.

-Southern Tug Hill Sno-Riders: All trails are open. Groomers will be going out.

-Trackside Blazers: Groomers were out on the trails from Alder Creek to Otter Lake Monday night.

-Turin Ridge Riders: Trails are open. Some thin and icy spots are reported.

-Valley Snow Travelers: Trails from Montague to Flatrock Inn and Tabolts Corners are all groomed.

NOTICE: Local law enforcement and snowmobile club officials are warn all riders to obey any and all rules and regulations. This includes, but is not limited to: respecting closed trails and staying off from private property. Police warn to never snowmobile while intoxicated or under the influence of any substance. Watch your speeds and remember to look out for and give right-of-way to groomers on the trails.
