Moose Snowmobile Trail Reports for Wednesday, January 17, 2024
A monstrous lake effect snow band shut down schools and disrupted travel Wednesday morning between Lowville and Watertown, NY, which means there will be more snow for the local snowmobile clubs to groom.
It appears that several clubs are still reporting some hazards (tree limbs and etc.) in the wake of last-weeks wind storm.
Furthermore, it appears there have been numerous complaints of slush and water holes up around Tabolts Corners, however; local crews throughout the region have been out inspecting and clearing the trails.
Here are the latest reports:

Barnes Corners Sno-Pals: Groomers have been out; watch for hazards.
Brantingham Snowmobile Club: Most trails are open; watch for waterholes.
Long Pond Sno Sled Club: Trails are open; caution is advised.
Lost Trail Snowmobile Club: Most trails open (West Leyden Trail CLOSED); new addition to Port Leyden Trail that leads to Brantingham.
Missing Link Snowmobile Club: Trails from West Carthage to Copenhagen and Maples are open.
Osceola Snowmobile Association: Conditions vary from poor to excellent.
Ohio Ridge Riders: Trails have re-opened; lower elevations lack good snow coverage.
Old Forge/Town of Webb: Fair to good conditions reported, with up to 6-inches of packed base.
Penn Mountain Snow Riders: Groomers went out to Hinckley and Steuben; conditions vary.
Southern Tug Hill Sno-Riders: Best conditions are near Highmarket; other trails have minimal coverage.
Trackside Blazers: Trails have re-opened; groomers have been out and railroad tracks remain closed.
Turin Ridge Riders: All trails are open; coverage is thin off Tug Hill.
Valley Snow Travelers: Trails are groomed from Montague to Flat Rock and Tabolts Corners; Lowville trails remain open.
NOTICE: Local law enforcement and snowmobile club officials are warning all riders to obey any and all rules and regulations. This includes, but is not limited to: respecting closed trails and staying off from private property. Police warn to never snowmobile while intoxicated or under the influence of any substance. Watch your speeds and remember to look out for and give right-of-way to groomers on the trails.
