CROGHAN- A North Country area resident reportedly registered a BAC over twice the legal limit following a motor vehicle crash that occurred last-week in Lewis County.
Sheriff’s Deputies and emergency responders were called out sometime shortly before 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2 to the Old State Road in the town of Croghan for a motor vehicle accident.
While on-scene, police alleged that John C. Sheldon, 55, of Watertown, NY showed signs of impairment. Sheldon subsequently failed field sobriety tests on-scene before he was taken into custody.
During processing at the Public Safety Building, Deputies said that Sheldon registered a .17% BAC.
He was charged with DWI and other unspecified traffic infractions. Following arraignment, Sheldon was released on his own recognizance.
All charges are returnable to Croghan Town Court at a later date.
