MARTINSBURG- A motorcycle wreck over the weekend in Lewis County has resulted in the arrest of a local resident for alleged DWI.

It was some time shortly after 9:00 p.m. Saturday when emergency services were dispatched to Blue Street in the town of Martinsburg.

While on-scene, the motorcycle driver, identified by the Sheriff’s Office as Michael W. Garnsey, 21, of Constableville, NY reportedly showed signs of impairment, investigators said.

After failing field sobriety tests, deputies took Garnsey in to the Public Safety Building, where he reportedly refused to provide a breath sample.

He was then formally charged with one count each of DWI and no motorcycle plate.

At press time, the Sheriff’s Office did not describe the accident that took place.

3-G Fire Department, Lewis County Search & Rescue and the New York State Police all assisted.
