BOONVILLE- A fatality has been confirmed in the wake of what has been described as a severe accident that occurred Tuesday afternoon just south from the village.
It happened shortly after 4:00 p.m. on State Route 12. A portion of roadway from Potato Hill Road to Kerwin Road was shut down while emergency responders controlled the scene.
The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office is handling this investigation and for now, police have determined a 29-year-old female was stopped along the southbound side of Route 12 waiting to make a left-turn into a driveway.
An oncoming Chevy pick-up, reportedly driven by Edward Wolf, 75, of Ohio, NY struck the 29-year-old from behind and caused a chain-reaction event.
The 29-year-old was propelled into the oncoming northbound lane and collided with a Jeep – driven by Thomas Kristoff, 59, of Boonville, NY. The 29-year-old was struck again by another oncoming Ford pick-up, reportedly operated by Robert Perry, 54, of Manorville, NY.
The Ford pick-up and 29-year-old both ended up coming to rest in the ditch alongside the northbound lane.
Boonville Fire and Ambulance responded to the scene and attempted life saving measures on the 29-year-old female but she was ultimately pronounced deceased on scene.
Her identity will be released at a later time as investigators continue their work.
STAR Ambulance also responded and transported Wolf to the Wynn Hospital where he is currently listed in stable condition.
Kristoff and Perry were both evaluated on scene and denied transport to the Hospital.
We will share any new developments that surface.
