BOONVILLE- Attendance for the 76th annual New York State Woodsmen's Field Days was just shy of 27,000 visitors through the gates, according to a notice released by officials late Monday.

Although it's not quite up to other attendance numbers showcased in previous years, spokesperson Phyllis White says this time around served as a "huge challenge," due to the excessive rain and muddy conditions that plagued the event.

Rains received during the weeks leading into Woodmsen's weekend played a significant factor for such a muddy environment on the Boonville-Oneida County Fairgrounds.

Officials said throughout the weekend that there were numerous occasions where equipment and other vehicles became stuck.

"The attendance numbers did not break any records, but organizers of the event were very happy with the turnout," White told us, citing vendors with steady and even sell-out sales Friday-Sunday.

"The board of directors of the New York State Woodsmen’s Field Days extends a huge thank you to all who volunteered, participated and attended the show."

With a group consisting of over 700 volunteers, Woodsmen's officials are already planning the 77th event for August 16, 17 & 18, 2024.
