NEW: Public hearing for town of Leyden to revoke local law opening roads to ATV’s set for April 14

LEWIS COUNTY- Local officials in the southern end of Lewis County are expecting a significant turnout for a public hearing coming up soon regarding the potential revoking of a local law that allows ATV traffic on select roads in the town of Leyden.

***NOTE: The meeting date and time remain the same, but due to what is expected to be a very significant crowd attending, town of Leyden officials confirm that the public hearing location has been changed to the Port Leyden Fire Hall, instead of the Leyden Town Hall*** 

According to Town Supervisor Rosalie White, if enacted, this proposal would do away with legal ATV access on portions of the Neff, Ziegler and Fitch Roads.

ATV enthusiasts have since responded on social media with disgust, claiming if this proposal is ultimately approved, connections will be compromised to the county trail system towards Boonville and Tug Hill.

As of this publication, we did not get any official statement on record illustrating why this proposal has been brought forth.

The public hearing is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 14 at the Port Leyden Fire Hall.
