Published on December 23, 2015

The Lewis County Board of Legislators held their final meeting of the year just last evening and ended with a successful finding of a new real property tax services director.

A vote was held to appoint Candy Akin of Lyons Falls to be the new real property tax services director. Akin has been working in the County Office for the past 5 & ½ years. According to an article from the Johnson Newspapers Group, she will replace her boss Linda Hoskins. Ms. Hoskins will also be the first ever female county clerk for Lewis County. Ms. Akin also worked as a secretary for 8 years to Lowville attorney Earl Dunckle. According further to the article, the chairman of the legislative real property services committee, Gregory Kulzer said in a statement; “She’s got the qualifications”. After Ms. Hoskins was elected to the County Clerk position, only two other applications were sent in and Mr. Kulzer went on to say that Ms. Akins was the best qualified. Legislators also voted last evening to oppose the Governors wage increase to $15 an hour.
