
BOONVILLE- The remains of U.S. Army Private Harland J. Hennessey are expected to return home come the middle-end of this August.
 
Pvt. Hennessey, a member of the 803rd Engineer Battalion, Aviation, served his country during WWII and was captured during the fall of Bataan.
Tragically, he died in a Japanese POW camp on November 1, 1942. His remains, buried in Common Grave 704 in the Philippines, were properly identified through the efforts of the Cabanatuan Project and the DPAA in 2024.
As local authorities and veterans’ groups are preparing escorts, an exact date will be announced soon.
In the meantime, Veterans groups, motorcycle escorts, and members of the public are encouraged to line NY Route 12 North from Utica to Boonville, stand along village streets, and proudly welcome Pvt. Hennessey home on the day of his arrival.

Tractor Supply Parking Lot, Riverside Center, Utica, NY

Escort route:
Approximately 29 miles northbound on NY Route 12 to Boonville, traveling at 45 MPH. Motorcycles only (motorcycles, trikes, Can-Ams, etc.) may ride in escort. All other vehicles are asked to follow behind the procession.
In coordination with local law enforcement, the escort will be conducted by 'The Patriot Guard Riders of New York.'
All riders must secure bike flags and adhere to escort instructions. Participation constitutes acceptance of all terms and waivers as described in official rider communications.
