ALBANY, NY- A pay raise for New York lawmakers will go up for a vote Thursday.

At the tune of $32,000, the proposed hike is more than the $27,456 minimum wage salary a New Yorker earns working 40-hour weeks for an entire year.

If the legislature pay increase is passed, lawmakers would see their annual salary go up from $110,000 to $142,000, making them the highest paid lawmakers in the nation.

Right now, California lawmakers earn the highest annual salary of $120,000.

This bill was introduced by the Democratic led majorities in both the Senate and Assembly.
