Maple production across New York was up to nearly 850,000 gallons statewide in 2024, an increase of 100,000 gallons of syrup when compared to 2023.

This development blooms while maple producers gear up to make maple syrup, as New York State continues to rank second in the nation in maple production.

More than 100 maple producers participate in the NYS Grown & Certified program, which promotes New York farms that adhere to a higher standard for food safety and environmentally friendly practices.

“Thanks to our dedicated maple producers, including those who are in our NYS Grown & Certified program, New York continues to be a top maple producer in the country, contributing tremendously to our local communities and economies,” said the New York Ag Commissioner, Richard A. Ball.

New Yorkers and visitors alike are reminded that New York observes its traditional Maple Weekend during the month of March. This year, it will be March 22 - 23 and March 29 - 30.

During Maple Weekend, there are several sugar shacks, including traditional and modern, all across the state who host open houses, where the public can get a firsthand view of the several methods that are utilized to collect and boil sap into the liquid gold New York is known for.
