ALBANY, NY- Despite continuing efforts in removing barriers for prospective school bus drivers to become certified in New York State, authorities say the shortage remains.
In August, 2022, nearly three-quarters of school superintendents statewide, who responded to a state survey, indicated having bus driver staffing shortages that year, the New York State DMV claims.
The DMV office has worked together in partnership with other state agencies to help remove hurdles and make it more convenient for potential drivers to become certified.
For more details on these efforts, including a list of steps to achieve a school bus CDL, check out the New York State DMV website.
