New York to receive record Funding for Broadband Internet

Published on June 26, 2023

WASHINGTON, D.C.- There is a possibility that internet service may soon be improving in rural Upstate, NY.  U.S. Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer announced yesterday that New York State will be receiving a record almost 655 million dollars in federal funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. This will be the largest single investment for broadband in the history of New York State and will be used to provide affordable high-speed internet service to locations in New York that currently have no broadband service. Rural counties Upstate New York have struggled to obtain reliable high-speed internet service for many years and this investment is designed to bridge the "internet divide" between rural and urban New York.
