ORISKANY- New York's Commission of Correction has unveiled a report regarding the death of an Oneida County Jail inmate in 2021.
Ronald Pierce, 56, passed away in August that-year from a fentanyl overdose.
Correction Officers did provide CPR, but the report suggests that jail staff members reportedly failed to administer NARCAN to Pierce in a timely matter.
"The Medical Review Board opines that the security staff failed to preform adequate supervisory tours evidenced by the presence of postmortem changes when Pierce was found," according to the report.
The report added that Pierce also had a history of drug use.
In response, the Sheriff's Office says that NARCAN is now being carried by all on-duty officers within the facility, with additional receptacles that have been established as well.
