ROME- Police say they’re seeking assistance from any shoppers who potentially witnessed an altercation involving a knife, which occurred this week at an Oneida County area retail store.
It was shortly before 11:00 p.m. Tuesday when Sheriff’s Deputies were called out to the Rome, NY Walmart, where employees observed an altercation between two males and two females.
The incident reportedly occurred in the food section.
Employees told police that the two men began arguing, with one of them brandishing a knife. In response, the opposing male subject threw a bottle and struck the man with the knife.
Several more bottles and cans were subsequently hurled between the two.
Employees did manage to separate the pair, but all parties involved fled the store before police arrival.
With that said, witnesses were able to describe the subjects and their vehicles and before too long, authorities managed to locate the parties in the city, thanks to assistance via the State Police and Rome Police.
However, police say all subjects were uncooperative and refused to speak to investigators.
One of the male subjects suffered a cut, which was non-life threatening. He refused medical treatment.
After reviewing store surveillance footage, police confirm that no actual stabbing occurred and due to a lack of cooperation, no arrests have been made as of this report.
Anyone who was in the store and may have witnessed the incident is encouraged to call investigators at 315-765-2226.
