ONEIDA COUNTY- The Boonville Municipal Commission is reminding drivers to be extra mindful for work crews alongside the road following an incident Monday morning of which officials say could have been far worse.
It was sometime just before 9:00 a.m. when the municipal had a crew of employees working roadside in West Branch, NY.
Specifically, the Municipal had one of their work trucks parked along the road. The scene was also marked with signs, traffic cones and amber lights, yet there was a vehicle that came barreling through and sideswiped the work truck while an employee was exiting.
Fortunately, the Municipal Commission reported no injuries, but workers who witnessed this claim the driver fled “with no regard for lives or property.”
Though we have yet to receive an official investigation notice from either the State Police or Sheriff’s Office, the Municipal Commission says the vehicle in question appeared to be a greenish/blue colored GMC SUV.
Municipal officials expect this vehicle to have significant damage to the front side.
We will share anything new that surfaces from this incident.
