LOWVILLE- No... Lewis County Sheriff Mike Carpinelli was not shot and wounded, despite a very erroneous rumor that gained traction and spread on Tuesday.

Mike Carpinelli himself confirmed with our station late in the afternoon on Tuesday that he was in good health and he had not been shot, nor had he been involved with any sort of shooting.

Members of the Sheriff's Office in Lowville, NY originally reached out to the station to request a clarification update, with hopes of cooling off the rumor spread.

In short, the Sheriff says he is not exactly sure where or how the rumor started snow balling, but he is thankful for the robust support he has received from concerned community members.
