JEFFERSON COUNTY- A North Country area resident is faced with charges for allegedly strangling a woman in Jefferson County.
The Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Tyler Barkley, 18, of Carthage, NY on Sunday for one misdemeanor count of criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, along with another violation of harassment in the second-degree.
Sheriff’s Deputies were called out to an incident sometime around 1:30 a.m. Sunday on State Route 3 in the town of Champion.
According to police investigation, Barkley allegedly put his hands around a woman’s neck with enough pressure to cause pain and make it difficult for her to breathe.
Barkley is also accused of pushing the female victim. Following an arraignment, authorities said that Barkley was released.
