Eric Virkler

LOWVILLE- Lewis County's Treasurer says he will be seeking re-election this fall.

Eric Virkler made the announcement, officially, Tuesday morning at the Lewis County Republican Committee Headquarters. "My past experiences serving as a Certified Public Accountant, the Chief Financial Officer of Lewis County General Hospital, and the Director of Lewis County Economic Development make me uniquely qualified to serve as the County Treasurer," he said during his address.

"I have had the honor and privilege of serving the residents of Lewis County as Treasurer for the last three years and hope to continue to do so with election for a second term."

When Mr. Virkler isn't in the Treasurers office, he spends quite a bit of time being involved with various activities throughout the community, including serving on the board of the Lewis County Development Corporation, Mountain View Prevention Services and the First Presbyterian Church of Lowville.

He also enjoys coaching the boys swim team at Lowville Academy and Central School. In addition, Mr. Virkler takes responsibility for organizing the annual Lowville Thanksgiving Turkey Trot 5K.

"I am proud to serve the citizens of Lewis County," he said.

"My experience working in multiple County offices and in previous accounting and business positions gives me a diverse background to guide the Treasurer’s office. I look forward to the re-election campaign and will seek the Republican party nomination to be on the ballot in November."
