LOWVILLE- Unseasonably mild temperatures and a long-term weather outlook that suggests a warm pattern has resulted in the closure of Lowville’s Ice Skating rink, until further notice.
Given that the Program is scheduled to close for the season on Sunday, March 17, 2024, it is unlikely that based on the present and anticipated weather conditions, there will be the time and weather conditions to rebuild the ice sheet this year.
“Due to the warm weather the area is experiencing this week and based on the long range weather forecast into next week predicting above freezing temperatures until at least the middle of next week the ability to maintain a usable and safe ice sheet at the ice rink at the pavilion at the Lewis County Fairground will not be possible,” ice rink officials said in a released statement.
