NWS confirms two more tornadoes locally during wild weather week in July

LIMEKILN & LEE- Two more tornadoes have been confirmed here locally by the National Weather Service, as storm damage have had time to properly and further assess additional areas impacted by a vicious stretch of weather earlier this month.

According to a statement releases from the NWS Albany Office, an EF1 tornado touched down shortly after 4:00 p.m. on July 16 about 5-miles ESE Old Forge.

The tornado, which had a maximum wind speed of 100-mph and maximum width of approximately 150-yards, ended its 4.41-mile path about 4-miles SSE Eagle Bay.

Satellite imagery shows widespread tree damage east of Little Moose Lake and west of Limekiln Lake that is located where a tornadic debris signature that was observed from the KTYX radar.

Furthermore, another EF1 tornado touchdown was confirmed on July 16 in the town of Lee (see NWS chart below):

These tornado touchdowns are in addition to the ones confirmed in southwest Lewis County and between the Woodgate and Forestport, NY communities.
