TUG HILL PLATEAU- EXTREME COLD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 P.M. EST FRIDAY.

* WHAT...Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 35 below zero expected.

* WHERE...Jefferson and Lewis Counties.

* WHEN...Until1 P.M. EST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 35 below zero will cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 15 minutes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...This is a potentially dangerous situation to be outdoors. If you must be outside, be sure to cover all exposed skin. Frostbite can occur in 15 minutes or less with apparent temperatures of 25 below zero or colder.

 

ONEIDA COUNTY- EXTREME COLD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 A.M. FRIDAY; COLD WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 10 A.M. FRIDAY TO 9 A.M. EST SUNDAY.

* WHAT...For the Extreme Cold Warning, dangerously cold wind chills as low as 30 below. For the Cold Weather Advisory, very cold wind chills as low as 22 below expected.

* WHERE...Northern Oneida County.

* WHEN...For the Extreme Cold Warning, until 10 A.M. EST Friday. For the Cold Weather Advisory, from 10 A.M. Friday to 9 A.M. EST Sunday.

* IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 20 to 30 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Very cold temperatures can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Temperatures will only warm to single digits above zero for highs today. Overnight lows the next several nights will be below zero through Sunday morning. The prolonged cold could cause pipes to freeze or burst.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must
go outside. To prevent water pipes from freezing; wrap or drain or allow them to
drip slowly. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves.

 

OLD FORGE & WESTERN ADIRONDACKS- EXTREME COLD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 A.M. EST FRIDAY.

* WHAT...Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 32 below.

* WHERE...Northern Warren, Hamilton, Northern Fulton, and Northern Herkimer Counties.

* WHEN...Until 11 A.M. Friday.

* IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 30 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must go outside.
