NYSP: Local resident charged with felony rape in Ava

AVA- A sex offense investigation in Northern Oneida County has resulted in a felony charge lodged against a local resident, authorities say.

Derek R. Still, 39, of Ava, NY was arrested Tuesday evening by the New York State Police (Oneida). Still is formally charged with one felony count of rape in the first-degree (oral sexual contact – forcible compulsion).

According to investigators, the arrest stems from a sex offense case, which was reported Sunday in the town of Ava.

At press time, Still’s arrest status indicated an appearance for centralized arraignment.

There were no further details shared by State Police as of this report.
