Nearly 13,500 tickets were issued in total during this year’s New York State Police Memorial Day Weekend enforcement crackdown.
In all, Troopers reportedly arrested 194 people for intoxicated driving, while also investigating 839 crashes; 130 of which involved some sort of personal injuries.
Miraculously, there were no fatal crashes reported.
In our Troop D Region, 13 motorists were arrested for intoxicated driving, while 374 drivers were caught speeding; 85 were ticketed for distracted driving; 585 were cited for seatbelt violations and 5 were cited for failing to move over.
In all, over 3,800 drivers were ticketed statewide for speeding. Another 3,000 were caught not wearing their seatbelts.
The overall statistics for this year’s crackdown are very similar from last year’s 13,896 tickets that were issued statewide.
