ONEIDA COUNTY- A Mohawk Valley area resident is faced with a trio of felony charges, including promoting a sexual performance by a child, following an investigation this month.
Last Thursday, the New York State Police arrested and charged Russell J. Kirk, 39, of Rome, NY with one felony count of promoting a sexual performance by a child and two felony counts of criminally possessing a weapon in the third-degree.
The charges stem from an Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force search warrant related to the transmission of child sexual exploitation material via the internet.
During the search of Kirk’s residence, investigators also located an illegally possessed firearm and ammunition feeding devices.
Kirk was arraigned in Rome City Court and remanded to the Oneida County Jail with bail set at $50,000 cash / $100,000 bond. Kirk is due to return to court at a later date.
This arrest was made thanks to a partnership investigation between the State Police, Homeland Security and the Sheriff’s Office.
