LOWVILLE-On Wednesday, November 5, 2025, Commissioner for Lewis County Department of Social Services, Jennifer Jones, joined North Country News for part-two of our latest on-air series focusing on SNAP amidst the ongoing federal shutdown.
As of this publication, this lingering government lapse has become the longest standing in U.S. history, leaving several federal employees furloughed or without pay, including right here in the North Country.
The second longest was during President Trump's first term in office during the end of 2018 and early 2019.
