Oneida County man accused of having sexual intercourse with a child over a two-year period

ROME- A man is accused of having sexual intercourse with a female child in Oneida County, authorities say.

Jerry Studer, 58, of Rome, NY was arrested by investigators last Thursday. It’s alleged that he engaged sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 13 for a two-year period.

Studer was indicted by the Oneida County Grand Jury on felony charges of Predatory Sex Assault Against a Child (class A-II Felony); along with counts of rape and sexual abuse in the first-degrees.

Authorities received a report in June of Studer’s activity with the victim.

Studer was arraigned on the charges in Oneida County Court on Friday and was remanded to the Oneida County Jail with no bail.

An order of protection was issued by the court and services have been offered to the victim by the Child Advocacy Center.

Members of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, Child Advocacy Center, U.S. Marshalls Service and Rome Police Department all provided assistance.
