Oneida County man charged with stalking reportedly managed to evade arrest on several active warrants

ANNSVILLE- A man from Oneida County is accused of stalking after just recently having several charges filed against him stemming from as early as this spring.

Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a domestic incident last Wednesday in the town of Annsville. Authorities learned that the suspect, Shawn E. Smith, 45, had several active warrants out from numerous police agencies.

Investigators also learned that he had managed to evade arrest for an extended period of time in regards to those warrants.

As previously reported, Smith was just charged by the State Police based on three separate incidents throughout Oneida County.

Last Friday, the Sheriff’s Office managed to locate and arrest Smith in the village of Camden, NY. He was charged with misdemeanor stalking in the fourth-degree.

Immediately following his release, Smith was taken into custody by the New York State Police to be processed on active warrants from their agency.

Following that, Smith was processed by Rome Police on several warrants and returned to the Oneida County Jail.

Smith was then remanded pending future court appearances.
