A brand-new academic year is on the horizon and local authorities are warning families to be cautious of what they post to social media for when it comes to first day of school pictures.
Over the last few years, it has become more of a trend for parents or families to post pictures of their children going back to school on their first day.
According to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, it is important for families to be aware that sharing too much personal information online can open up a can of worms for when it comes to hackers and scammers.
Even though it may be tempting or seem harmless, but officials strongly discourage parents from posting their child’s age, grade level, school name or logo, teacher’s name, school bus number and etc.
