BOONVILLE- North Country Proudly Honors will soon be hosting its annual Hometown Heroes Banner reception at the Harland J. Hennessey VFW Post.

From 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 3, members from the public are invited to come and witness 21 brand-new hero banners, which will be displayed (thanks to the Municipal Commission) throughout the village from Memorial Day through Veterans Day.

This year's line-up makes 260 total banners that have been produced since the initiative sparked nearly a decade ago, which has spread from Boonville to other North Country communities and beyond all across the country.

Each banner represents either a current or past U.S. Military Service Member, including those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

If you would like to honor a service-member with a banner of their own, there is time to secure a spot on next year's list by dialing: 315-942-2776. Applications can also be found throughout the village.

"The success of this program would not be possible without the tremendous support of so many civic and businesses groups in our community," said spokesperson Robert Lewis.
