Police charge Rome man after investigating multiple domestic incidents

ROME- A local resident was jailed on numerous felony and misdemeanor accusations stemming from police investigation into multiple domestic incidents.

Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an address Tuesday morning on Pine Haven Circle to assist county probation at the scene of a domestic incident.

Shortly after arriving and conducting an investigation, police discovered that Gary A. Niles II, 41, of Rome, NY had allegedly committed numerous domestic and firearms offenses.

When Deputies tried taking Niles II into custody, it is reported that he physically resisted and was subjected to physical force.

Niles II was taken in for processing and charged with one felony count of aggravated criminal contempt, two felony counts of criminally possessing a weapon in the third-degree and another felony count of strangulation in the second-degree. In addition, two misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child were filed against Niles II, along with more misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest and obstruction of governmental administration. Finally, Niles II was issued with a violation of harassment in the second-degree.

The victims have been offered services.

At press time, authorities said that Niles II was brought to centralized arraignment before remanded to the County Jail on an unspecified bail.
