
ROME- A Mohawk Valley area man is faced with several charges after allegedly brandishing a chainsaw and using it to threaten neighboring apartment occupants.
Paul R. Scott, 54, of Rome, NY was arrested Monday by the city police department. Scott is formally charged with counts of menacing in the second-degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the second, third and fourth-degrees and criminally possessing a firearm.
According to police, the incident occurred at 506 North Madison Street.
Investigation revealed that Scott possessed a chainsaw and had been threatening others within the building with it. It’s reported that Scott also began carving into one of the front doors to an apartment space, police said.
After processing, Scott was arraigned in Rome City Court and was jailed, without bail.
The case was transferred over to Oneida County Court.
