WESTMORELAND- A man from the city of Rome, NY is accused of a pair of charges, including a felony, after allegedly violating a protection order in Oneida County earlier this winter.

On Monday, the Sheriff’s Office and their Warrants Unit arrested Joseph M. Mendoza, 49, for one felony count of aggravated family offense and one misdemeanor of criminal contempt in the second-degree.

In December, Deputies began investigating a complaint in the town of Westmoreland, where it was learned that Mendoza had allegedly contacted a protected party on a stay away order of protection only hours after being released from the county jail for the same exact crime.

At press time, police said that Mendoza was processed and held, pending an arraignment in CAP Court.
