LOWVILLE & BOONVILLE- 750 backpacks – all filled with school supplies – will be available this year between both the Lowville and Boonville Back to School Block Party, hosted thanks to the Black River Valley Business & Community Alliance and RTFCU.
Originally, this backpack giveaway was sparked several years ago by Joshua Fitzgerald and Lake Effect Tech.
The intent, according to Mr. Fitzgerald, is to give local families some financial relief through offering backpacks, which are filled with school supplies, free of charge, to students who attend local school districts.
As usual, there are no pre-requirements and no questions asked.
The only catch is that each child must be present at either event in order to receive a backpack.
Students can pick up a backpack at Lowville’s Block Party on Saturday, August 17 at the Lewis County Fairgrounds from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
If families miss the Lowville event, they will have another opportunity on Saturday, August 24 during the same time frame at the Boonville-Oneida County Fairgrounds.
