George Capron

BOONVILLE- From November 17 - 21, we, the Flack Broadcasting group, will be honoring George Capron all week by raising money for the George Capron Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Listen to our latest on-air segment with Robert Lewis, who has been a key figure in helping to organize the George Capron Memorial Scholarship Fund:

This scholarship provides local students funds for higher education. For every dollar raised, the Flack family will do a 20% match; up to $5000.

We are asking our listeners to call in and pledge a donation at 315-376-7500. You can also message us on Facebook. Checks can be made out to The George Capron Scholarship Fund and mailed to 7606 North State Street Lowville, NY 13367. You can also drop off cash or checks at the Lowville station if you'd like.

Please help us raise money to help provide scholarships to local students!

Established back in 2020, scholarship recipients are chosen by school staff members, based on the very exact or similar characteristics that Mr. WBRV himself once possessed, such as a wide involvement with community events and functions.

Past recipients included Isabella Kranbuhl, Rachael Sadlowski, Keaton Nagy, Luke Brach, Caroline Martin, Brett Sanford, Madison Rooney, and Veda Pitt.

For over 52 years, George Capron was the “Voice of the North Country,” starting at young age 17 as a local DJ for WBRV working until his passing in October, 2019.

George’s love and passion for Boonville and communities beyond will certainly carry on, which is why some of the main criteria for this scholarship fund includes community involvement, followed with an interest in media, journalism, weather and broadcasting.
