REPORT: NY Attorney General referred for federal criminal prosecution for alleged mortgage fraud

ALBANY- It appears that the New York Attorney General is in hot water over allegations related to mortgage fraud.

Numerous national news sources suggest that Letitia James has been referred for a federal criminal prosecution by the Trump Administration because she allegedly claimed a property in Virginia as her principal residence, which turns out is actually 300-some miles from her actual home in New York City.

A spokesperson for AG James and her office told reporters that she “is focused every single day on protecting New Yorkers” and that she “will not be intimidated by bullies – no matter who they are.”

In 2022, AG James sued Donald Trump, who was between terms in office at the time, over alleged financial fraud. The Attorney General accused Trump and his family participating in a conspiracy to inflate his net worth to secure better loan rates, among other things.
