Rome PD Arrest

ROME- The city police department has arrested a suspect for allegedly trying to rob an Amazon delivery driver.

Officers responded during the evening hours on March 6 to the 1700 block of North George Street.

Investigation suggests an Amazon delivery driver was approached by a suspect, who declared “this is a robbery” before demanding the victim’s belongings.

While trying to gain access to the back of the delivery truck, police learned that the robber became distracted enough for the driver to get away.

The following day on March 7, police managed to identify the suspect as Alec W. DeBella, 24. Officers said they found DeBella at his home and made an arrest without any further incident.

At press time, police said that DeBella was charged with a felony count of attempted robbery. More charges are pending, as police say the investigation remains ongoing.

DeBella was taken to the Oneida County Jail for arraignment.

Anyone with information that could assist investigators is asked to reach out and contact 315-339-7744.
