ROME- A local resident is accused of child endangerment after police performed a welfare check last weekend.
City Police officials said they were dispatched shortly before 2:00 p.m. Sunday for a welfare check at 107 Palmer Avenue.
Upon arrival, there was no answer at the door, but police said they could hear what sounded like a child crying from inside.
After making entry, officers found a child in the bathtub, who was less than two-years of age. The child did not have any injuries.
Police also found an unconscious female, but still breathing. She was identified as Carrie C. Bachmann, 34, of Rome, NY.
Police said a variety of paraphernalia was discovered inside the home.
Both Bachman and the child were evaluated at a nearby hospital.
At press time, officers said that Bachman was charged with one count of endangering the welfare of a child.
Bachman was issued with an appearance ticket.
There were no further details provided.
