Seasonal residence in Herkimer County sustains fire damage, emergency responders say

HERKIMER COUNTY- A seasonal camp in the local area was scorched by a Tuesday morning blaze.

Alarms went off around 6:00 a.m. for a structure fire on the Sulphur Springs Road, town of Norway.

Newport and Barneveld were the primary responders, with mutual aid thanks to East Herkimer, Remsen, Middleville, Deerfield and other companies on standby.

Firefighters were successful in keeping the majority of the flames toward the back of the home, including the kitchen and storage areas.

As of this report, a cause remains unknown. On the other hand, there were no injuries reported and no one was home while the fire occurred.
