BOONVILLE- Thursday evening was another intense public gathering for the Boonville Area Chamber of Commerce.
We attended this meeting and there were at-least three attendees who got up and left during discussion, including one member who slammed their chair down and demanded a refund of their chamber dues.
Thursday’s meeting trails on the heels of the chamber’s first public meeting in January, which started out on several positive notes, including ideas pitched for events this-year.
However, that meeting went south and became argumentative after the chamber did not provide documents requested on spot via the members.
It seems as if there were very few positive notes from last night’s meeting when compared to January.
Furthermore, based on what we gathered from Thursday’s meeting, the chamber members did not receive their requested documents, such as by-laws and other forms as promised previously by the chamber in late January.
Instead, the chamber provided FOIL (Freedom of Information Law) sheets for members to fill out and set-up an appointment to view their requested documents. This was done via the advice of the chamber’s attorney, officials revealed at the meeting.
With that being said, the chamber did provide all attendees with the open meeting agendas for Thursday, meeting minutes from January 18, the January Financial Balance Sheet and proposed income/budgets for 2023.
We plan on sharing more in-depth updates from the meeting next week.
