State DOT Traffic Alert: Route 274 over Big Brook Bridge to close in town of Western for repair work

WESTERN- Listeners are advised of a local traffic notice in Oneida County. Starting Monday, August 8 at 7:00 a.m., State Route 274, over Big Brook Bridge in the town of Western, will close to all traffic.

The New York State DOT says some rehabilitation work needs to be done on the bridge, which is located just over a mile east off from Route 46.

Weather patterns may play a factor for construction crews and motorists who frequently travel that area are warned that the closure is expected to remain in place through late September.

There will be posted detour routes to follow.

Drivers are reminded to slow down and act responsibly in work zones. If caught speeding in a work zone, drivers face double the fines and repeat offenders face possible suspension of their license.
