If you drive drunk, buzzed or impaired this holiday season, chances are you will most likely end up with a DWI and it won’t be from Santa Claus.

As we ease into the peak of the Christmas season, the New York State Police is announcing their annual partnership with local law enforcements statewide for the holiday crackdown campaign.

Increased patrols will be on the lookout for reckless and drunk drivers through January 1, 2023. Drivers should also expect to encounter sobriety checkpoints.

During the Christmas season last-year, State Police issued over 35,000 tickets, while also arresting 522 people for DWI.

Authorities remind drivers to move over whenever they encounter any emergency vehicles or any vehicles alongside the roads with their lights flashing.
