State Police are investigating a Fatal UTV crash in Lewis County

TOWN OF MONTAGUE-State Police in Lowville is investigating a fatal UTV crash that occurred on Worth Road in the town of Montague, Lewis County.

On September 4, 2022, at 4:24 p.m., a 2022 Can-Am Maverick UTV, operated by James M. Jobson-Wagar, age 21 from Dexter, NY was traveling east on Worth road when he lost control at a hillcrest, exited the roadway, and struck a tree. 

James was transported to Lewis County Hospital where he was then airlifted by LifeNet to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse where he was listed in critical condition. 

On September 5, 2022, James M. Jobson-Wagar succumbed to his injuries. During the investigation, it was determined that James was not wearing a helmet or a seatbelt prior to the crash.

State Police were assisted at the scene by the Lewis County Search and Rescue.

The investigation is continuing.
