State Police arrest Newport area resident for alleged DWI, unlicensed operation

MIDDLEVILLE- A resident from Herkimer County is faced with DWI and unlicensed operation accusations.

During the evening hours on Saturday, the New York State Police (Herkimer) arrested and charged Robert John Sweet, 60, of Newport, NY with one felony count of aggravated unlicensed operation in the first-degree, along with one misdemeanor count each of aggravated unlicensed operation in the second-degree; DWI (first offense) and operating a motor vehicle (w/a .08 of 1% BAC or greater).

Troopers said these charges were all filed Sunday evening in the village of Middleville, NY.

At press time, police said that Sweet was issued with an appearance ticket.
