ONEIDA COUNTY- A driver who was involved in a two-car personal injury accident this week near Remsen, NY was ticketed for failing to yield the right-of-way.
This development is according to the latest release from the New York State Police.
As previously reported, emergency responders were called out shortly after 8:00 a.m. Wednesday to the intersection of State Route 12 and Steuben Road for a collision, right next to Shufelt’s Garage.
According to State Police investigation, Tracy L. Brucker, 37, of Frankfort, NY was stopped at the intersection on Steuben Road. Brucker was driving a 2018 Ford van and reportedly failed to observe an oncoming northbound 2022 Ford van on Route 12, operated by Willard A. Harvey, 47, of Rome, NY.
Police said a collision occurred. Harvey managed to end up across the southbound lane, coming to rest off from the roadway, near Starr Hill Road intersection.
Meanwhile, police say Brucker’s van smashed into a gas pump at Shufelt’s and also struck the rear-end of another unoccupied vehicle at the pump.
Although Mr. Harvey was not injured in the crash, police said Mrs. Brucker and another passenger were taken to a Utica Hospital for unspecified injuries. Investigators did clarify Brucker’s injuries were non-life threatening, while the unidentified passenger was complaining of stomach pain.
Brucker was issued with a traffic ticket for failing to yield right-of-way.
Members from Remsen and Barneveld Fire Departments and Kuyahoora Ambulance all responded to assist.
