WEBB- A stranded Loon was rescued earlier this month in the Western Adirondacks.
On Wednesday, December 14, the Adirondack Center for Loon Conservation was notified of a common loon that appeared trapped on First Lake, town of Webb.
Officials said the loon was stuck in a small patch of open water, about 50-yards from shore.
Rescuers ventured out on the morning of December 15 after a night of freezing conditions. After switching up tactics, the loon was safely apprehended by use of a gill net.
Volunteers said the loon was a juvenile and was relocated to a larger, ice-free lake to get another change for successful migration.
