Summer Reading Program

Published on July 07, 2016

School is out for the summer, but State Senator Joseph Griffo is encouraging children to continue to sign up for his 2016 Summer Reading Program.

There is still plenty of time left this summer for children to keep up on their reading, and Senator Griffo’s program through the New York State Senate will help children maintain their interest in books leading into the new school year. Every year since being elected, Senator Griffo has partnered with local libraries to offer children the motivation to keep their mind focused on learning during the summer break. Children can register with an adult’s help at www.nyread.com, or at their local library. Each child will then keep either a handwritten or online log of the books they read. At the end of the program, Senator Griffo will send each student a special certificate congratulating them on their achievement. The program is open to children of all ages. The Senate’s Summer Reading Program is being offered in conjunction with the New York State Library. For a list of local libraries, or to view activities, games and links that will keep children engaged and entertained this summer, visit www.summerreadingnys.org.
