Suspect in Boonville traffic stop arrested on felony charge for being with person who had full stay away protection order

BOONVILLE- A traffic stop in the village this week resulted in a local resident being accused of violating a protection order.

It was sometime shortly before 9:30 p.m. Monday when village patrols observed a driver commit vehicle and traffic law violations.

A traffic stop was conducted on Erwin Street. This is when Jeremy L. Walters, 23, of Lyons Falls, NY was arrested and charged with one felony count of criminal contempt in the first-degree.

While interviewing with the vehicle occupants, Boonville Police discovered that another passenger had a full stay away order of protection against Walters.

At press time, police said that Walters was processed and taken in for Centralized Arraignment.

There were no further details provided.
