Suspect who allegedly fled police on e-bike had felony warrants by Oneida County Sheriff's Office and New York State Police

ROME- A city resident with numerous warrants out for his arrest was caught by the city police department after allegedly trying to flee on an e-bike.

Last Thursday morning, patrols arrested George J. Wishart, 45, of Rome, NY. It is reported that officers observed Wishart commit multiple traffic violations while operating an e-bike in the area of North George and West Bloomfield Streets.

Police tried conducting a traffic stop, but it is alleged that Wishart fled before being apprehended on Black River Boulevard.

Police said Wishart had an active arrest warrant via Rome City Court, but following his arrest, it was then discovered that Wishart also had numerous other felony warrants out from the Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Police.

At press time, authorities said that Wishart was charged with obstructing governmental administration in the second-degree, along with numerous other unspecified traffic law violations.
